Chapter 10 - The Baby Assigned to Grace
The registry showed that Bellamy attorneys had named Grace guardian of an infant called Samuel before the scandal began.
The child carried genetic material from Elena and Richard, making him another potential heir.
Charles intended to reveal Samuel if Owen and Liam resisted the family trust.
Grace had been selected because the public would believe a loyal house manager had volunteered to raise an abandoned child.
Once again, the family planned to use her reputation for compassion as unpaid labor.
Federal agents found Samuel safely inside a private nursery operated by the Bellamy Foundation.
Elena, Richard, Catherine and Grace refused to let ownership decide his future.
A court placed him temporarily with licensed relatives while all adults underwent review.
The Bellamy empire was dismantled.
Workers received controlling shares, pensions were restored and the mansion became a legal center for families harmed by coerced medical agreements.
Grace’s marriage to Richard was formally voided at her request.
She did not need a forgotten title to prove her worth.
Catherine began rebuilding trust with the twins and Elena without demanding forgiveness.
Richard surrendered his inheritance and accepted that protection meant giving up power, not merely confronting people after harm occurred.
At the first employee board meeting, Grace sat where Charles once ruled.
Owen and Liam placed the brass playroom key on the table.
“No one should ever be locked away again,” Owen said.
The council melted it into a small plaque honoring workers who told the truth.
Then the mansion’s double doors opened.
A young woman entered carrying a second brass key and Catherine’s missing medical bracelet.
She looked directly at Grace.
“My name is Anna Bellamy,” she said.
“Charles raised me in another house as the daughter who would replace the twins.”
She placed a photograph on the table.
It showed Grace holding Anna as a newborn.
