Chapter 5 - THE DEAD WIFE WHO CAME BACK ANGRY.

Celeste stepped into the library with tears in her eyes, but Daniel did not move toward her.

“You let me bury you.”

She answered, “Your mother made sure grief was the only version you could afford to believe.”

Victoria called her unstable.

Celeste laughed bitterly.

“That word again. The family’s favorite coffin.”

Two years earlier, Celeste discovered that Ashford Holdings was diverting employee pension money into private development accounts.

When she threatened to expose it, Victoria arranged a false medical crisis, moved her to a private residence, and announced her death.

Thomas Bennett helped her escape.

He then began copying records from the mansion’s electrical server room.

Victoria framed him for theft before he could release them.

Daniel looked at Lucy.

“Your father saved her.”

Celeste knelt beside the child.

“And he told me you were the bravest person in this house.”

Victoria’s voice cut through them.

“Do not turn a groundskeeper into a hero. He was paid to maintain wires, not interfere with family governance.”

Lucy looked directly at her.

“My dad fixed what rich people broke and blamed on poor workers.”

Celeste handed Daniel the stolen pension ledger.

Millions had funded Victoria’s estates and private clinic.

Then she revealed the final entry.
