Sarah remembered the night clearly.
Emily had been hospitalized during a severe respiratory illness, and a Mercer family attorney arrived with documents he described as emergency insurance authorizations.
Sarah was exhausted, frightened and unable to afford the hospital deposit.
The attorney promised that signing would guarantee Emily’s treatment.
She signed several pages without being permitted to read the full packet.
One of those signatures had been removed, scanned and placed onto the altered casualty form.
Vivian called Sarah irresponsible for signing documents she did not understand.
The criticism exposed the cruelty of privilege.
Vivian had personal attorneys review every contract she touched.
Sarah had been standing beside a sick child while a hospital billing office demanded money she did not possess.

Grant denied giving any instruction.

Major Brooks used James’s key to open it remotely through an evidence-management system.
The chapel screen displayed photographs, engineering warnings and payment records connecting Mercer Tactical to General Hayes.
There was also a video recorded by James on the morning of the test.
He said someone had threatened Sarah and Emily if he refused to participate.
Before naming the person, he looked directly into the camera and said, “The one I trusted most was not Grant.”
