Chapter 7 - THE FATHER WHO CALLED HER A LIABILITY.
Jonathan entered the room surrounded by private security.
He did not look at Elena first.
He looked at the documents.
“Those records are privileged.”
Elena held the birth ledger against her chest.
“You mean the truth belongs to your law firm.”
Jonathan’s expression remained flat.
“You are biologically related to me. That does not create a relationship, a claim, or a place in this family.”
The cruelty silenced even Victoria.
Elena answered:
“I did not come asking you to be my father. I came because you stole from my mother and called her poverty proof she was unfit.”
Jonathan said Clara had been emotionally unstable and obsessed with revenge.
Graham stepped toward him.
“You represented her.”
“I protected the hotel from an irrational heir.”
“You impregnated her while controlling her legal access.”
Jonathan’s face tightened.
“She was an adult.”
Elena’s voice cut through him.
“She was a woman raised in confinement, threatened with recommitment, and dependent on the attorney assigned to protect her. Do not call exploitation romance because you wore a suit.”
Victoria removed the Langley family necklace from her throat and placed it on the desk.
“I will not marry into this.”
Jonathan warned that rejecting the alliance would cost her inheritance.
She answered, “Then your money can die without an audience.”
Security refused Jonathan’s order to seize the papers after Rosa and other employees blocked the doorway.
For once, the staff did not step aside.
Then Graham received a message from the hotel’s archive server.
Jonathan had accessed Room 817 earlier that evening.
He had removed one file before Elena arrived.
