Maya knelt on the marble floor while wealthy guests watched her wipe spilled wine from beneath their shoes. When Ethan entered with his suitcase, she suddenly struck the silver bucket. The crash silenced the entire foyer.
Ethan saw her swollen eyes and faint facial injuries.
“Maya… who did this to you?”
She looked toward Victoria on the staircase.
“She said people like me should know our place.”
Victoria lifted her wineglass calmly.
“Do not be dramatic. She embarrassed my guests.”
Ethan raised his phone and played a recording showing Victoria instructing others to watch as Maya was forced to clean on her knees.
“Then explain this.”
He helped Maya stand as the video continued. Victoria’s voice was clear:

Ethan asked what she meant. Maya opened her hand. Inside was a torn property transfer agreement granting Victoria ownership of the mansion—already bearing Ethan’s signature.
