Victoria claimed the company needed liquidity.
Eleanor asked one question:
“How many nurses will lose their jobs?”
Victoria said that information was operational.
Eleanor already knew the answer.
“Eight hundred forty.”
Ethan’s face changed.
His mother continued:
“How many residents will face higher monthly fees?”
Victoria remained silent.
“Three thousand one hundred.”
Leah looked at Ethan.
“You were negotiating a sale without knowing those numbers?”
He had no answer.
Victoria stepped toward Eleanor.
“The company belongs to this family.”
Eleanor’s tears stopped.
“No.”
She looked at Leah.
“Bring me the blue folder.”
Inside was the Harrington Family Stewardship Trust.
It controlled the mansion, the care centers and sixty-two percent of company voting shares.
The trust included a mistreatment clause.
If a family member attempted to coerce Eleanor or remove a trusted caregiver to force a signature, temporary authority transferred to an independent protector.
Ethan read the protector’s name.
Leah Morgan.
Victoria stared at the maid.
“This is absurd.”
Eleanor held Leah’s hand.
