Chapter 5 - The Maid Held Power

Leah did not become the owner.
She could not spend trust money or take company shares.
Her authority was more precise.
She could freeze the sale.
Suspend household access.
Protect Eleanor from relocation.
And demand an independent review of every document Victoria had prepared.
Victoria laughed.
“You have no idea how to manage a billion-dollar company.”
Leah looked at her.
“No.”
A pause.
“But I know what Mrs. Harrington said.”
Twenty-one minutes remained before the sale deadline.
Leah opened the trust portal.
The system required a witness to confirm coercion.
Everyone looked at Ethan.
Victoria stepped closer to him.
“If you confirm this, the company loses the buyer.”
Eleanor said nothing.
She did not beg her son to choose her.
That made his shame worse.
Ethan pressed the confirmation button.
The transaction froze.
Victoria’s sixty-million-dollar bonus disappeared.
Then an alert appeared.
The buyer demanded repayment of a twenty-five-million-dollar advance Victoria had already accepted.
Ethan stared at her.
“Where is the money?”
Victoria did not answer.

Leah opened the transaction ledger.
The deposit had funded a Manhattan penthouse, private art, Victoria’s brother’s consulting company—and renovations to Eleanor’s mansion.
