Claire looked up at the crystal lights above the pool.
They suddenly felt less like beauty and more like evidence.

“Responsible” meant him.
The forged transfer would place worker claims, safety records, and trust votes under Cole control.
Claire understood why the pool humiliation had been planned.
Ethan wanted the guests to see her as emotional and unstable before she challenged the document.
Phones had already recorded the bride crying in the water.
The narrative was prepared.
Then Nora showed Claire a scheduled press release on Ethan’s tablet.
Its headline read:
“Bride’s Breakdown Delays Historic Cole-Bennett Merger.”
The release had been written before the wedding began.
