Chapter 9 - THE COMMAND CENTER.

Fluorescent lights flickered on as Maya crossed the steel threshold.
The hidden chamber resembled a federal intelligence facility rather than a room beneath an old-money mansion.
Towering server racks hummed along the concrete walls. A massive array of monitors covered an obsidian desk in the center.
This was where Maya’s father had spent his final secretive months before his supposed accidental death.
Arthur entered behind her, his composure breaking.
“He did not build only a financial failsafe. He built a digital prison for Vivian. He was recording everything.”
Maya approached the main console and brushed dust from the keyboard.
When she pressed the spacebar, the screens illuminated.
They displayed every dollar Vivian had embezzled, every offshore transfer and every bribe she had paid to judges and medical examiners.
There were recordings of her threatening staff and conspiring to steal Maya’s inheritance.
It was enough evidence to destroy Vivian’s entire empire.
A tear slipped down Maya’s cheek.
Her father had not abandoned her. He had spent his final days ensuring that Vivian’s greed would eventually become her undoing.
“We have everything,” Arthur said. “The trust, the estate and your name have been returned to you.”
May you like
Maya smiled for the first time.
Then the central monitor glitched violently.
