Claire held the necklace inches from Maya’s face while customers gathered around them.
“I found this beside your bag. Thieves like you do not belong here.”
Maya kept her voice steady.
“Check your facts before you destroy someone’s life.”
When Claire crowded her, Maya pushed her shoulder once to create space. Claire lost her balance and landed on the marble, stunned but unhurt.
Manager David unlocked the illuminated case. The authentic necklace remained secured on its black velvet bust.
“The one Claire found is a display replica,” he said.
Maya adjusted her backpack.
“You saw my clothes and decided I was guilty. Now everyone sees who was wrong.”
Claire looked at the replica as though it had betrayed her.
David examined a tiny number beneath the clasp. His face changed.
“That serial belongs to our private training collection.”
Only Bellamy family members and senior managers could access it.
Then the showroom camera replayed the previous hour.
