Chapter 7 - THE SISTER WHO BECAME ELENA’S DOUBLE.

Caroline Vale had been declared dead after a boating accident four years earlier.

Like Arthur, she had been erased rather than buried.

She had discovered that Vale Coastal purchased damaged neighborhoods through shell companies before relief funds could reach homeowners.

Victoria gave her a choice: disappear with continued access to wealth, or face prosecution under evidence planted in her name.

Caroline chose disappearance.

Then she began helping.

Elena stared at her through the screen.

“You dressed like me and trapped the safety line.”

Caroline’s face tightened.

“I was told the tether would only delay you. Lucas said Adrian would reach you before the cover moved.”

“You gambled with my life because someone promised the timing was safe.”

Caroline shouted back.

“You do not understand what it is like to lose everything.”

Elena’s reply was immediate.

“My father lost wages. Workers lost homes. Families lost neighborhoods. You lost access to a yacht and decided terror made us equal.”

Adrian demanded the plane return.

Lucas refused.

He said the original ledger would disappear unless Adrian signed over the company.

Arthur activated a federal hold on the aircraft.

But the private jet had already taxied beyond the family’s control.

Then Rosa checked the mansion’s backup server.

The ledger Lucas carried was a copy.

Miguel had hidden the original years earlier inside the pool’s emergency-control pedestal.

Victoria turned toward the patio.

The brass key in her hand was not for the canopy.

May you like

It opened the ledger compartment.

And she had already removed what was inside.
