Chapter 7 - The Account Wearing Angela’s Name
Angela admitted opening the account years earlier, but said Victor’s father told her it was an emergency fund for employees facing eviction.
Her signature was later copied onto transfers she never approved.
Rebecca warned her not to hide mistakes behind good intentions.
Angela nodded.
“I should have checked every document. Poor workers are never allowed to say they were too busy or trusted the wrong lawyer.”
Investigators confirmed the transfers occurred while Angela was working hotel shifts, but several early withdrawals carried her genuine authorization.
She had used money to help three families escape Hale’s custody orders.
Victor called that theft.
Angela faced him.
“You stole millions. I moved enough to keep children with their mothers.”
The worker council refused to treat her as either villain or saint. She would testify and accept independent review.
Samuel praised that decision.
“Justice fails when suffering becomes a crown.”
The court recognized the workers’ ownership claim and removed Victor’s family from management.
As employees entered the boardroom, Claire placed the unopened chocolate on the table.
Then Samuel received a hospital photograph.
