Chapter 5 - THE SON RAISED BY THE WRONG WOMAN.

Julian’s hands began to shake.
Margaret finally sat down on the upper landing.
She admitted Caroline was his biological mother.
After Caroline fell, Margaret took the infant and raised him as her own to preserve control of the Whitmore estate.
Julian’s birth certificate was altered.
Thomas Cole was erased as his father.
Margaret’s late husband was inserted in his place.
“You stole me,” Julian said.
“I saved you,” Margaret replied. “Your real father lived in staff housing.”
Grace’s expression hardened.
“Say it honestly. You believed love became unfit the moment it wore work boots.”
Margaret insisted Julian would have grown up poor and irrelevant.
Julian looked around the mansion.
“I grew up wealthy enough to believe your lies were protection.”
The attorney revealed that Julian’s adoption became void if Margaret concealed a financial conflict.
Because Caroline and Thomas jointly held the Beatrice trust, Margaret had raised Julian while controlling property that legally belonged to him and Grace.
Every company loan, gala donation, and property transfer tied to the mansion could now be challenged.
Margaret blamed Grace.
“You brought this into our home.”
Grace answered, “No. My family bought this home. You brought us in through the kitchen.”
Then Rosa handed Julian a small cassette recorder Caroline had hidden before the fall.
Her final voice filled the foyer:
“Margaret knows I am pregnant again.”
Grace looked toward Julian.
May you like
Caroline had been expecting a second child.
No second child appeared in any family record.
