Chapter 9 - THE WOMAN WEARING GRACE’S FACE.
Evelyn examined the footage frame by frame.
The woman looked exactly like Grace, but her left hand carried a small burn scar Grace did not have.
The video was not digitally altered.
Another woman had been used.
Rosa recognized her.
She was Anna Cole, Thomas’s younger daughter from a later relationship—the half-sister Grace had never known existed.
Margaret had hired Anna as a private aide years earlier because of the resemblance.
She dressed her like Grace, recorded false meetings, and prepared evidence that could be released if Grace challenged the estate.
Grace looked at Margaret in disbelief.
“You found my sister before I did, and the first thing you saw was a weapon.”
Margaret’s answer was chilling.
“She needed money. I gave her employment.”
Rosa replied, “You gave her fear and called it opportunity.”
Anna was located in a guesthouse behind the mansion.
She had not been free to leave.
Charles controlled her housing, wages, and access to her young son.
She agreed to the recording because he threatened to place the boy in foster care.
Grace did not excuse the betrayal, but she recognized the same machinery that had trapped Caroline, Beatrice, Rosa, and the others.
Anna surrendered messages proving Margaret and Charles planned the balcony confrontation.
The instruction was explicit:
“Make it look like panic. Staff will stay quiet.”
The three employees stepped forward together.
“We did not.”
Police arrested Charles at the bank and Margaret at the mansion.
Then Anna gave Grace one last envelope.
