Chapter 7 - THE CHILD WHO OWNED THE SHARES THEY STOLE.

Lily did not understand the value of the numbers printed in the trust.

She understood that her grandmother had lied to her mother.

Thomas Price, Lily’s late grandfather, had created an education and voting trust for his first granddaughter.

Until Lily became an adult, Emma was supposed to exercise the voting rights on her behalf.

Victoria concealed the trust because Emma’s votes, combined with Ethan’s, could remove Daniel from executive control.

For eight years, Victoria had treated Lily as an embarrassing relative while quietly using the child’s shares to strengthen the branch of the family she favored.

The injustice was so complete that even the Price attorney struggled to speak.

Victoria defended herself by claiming Emma lacked the experience to participate in corporate decisions.

She said a nonprofit employee married to a teacher could not understand a national company.

Emma asked whether Daniel’s experience included forgery, blackmail, and stealing from his unborn niece or nephew.

Several factory executives watching through a secure video link began requesting an immediate board review.

Daniel accused Emma of poisoning the family against him.

She answered calmly.

“You did that every time you believed someone without money could be sacrificed.”

Lily reached for her mother’s hand.

She did not celebrate the trust.

She asked whether the shares meant Victoria would finally love her.

The question broke whatever dignity remained in the room.

Emma knelt beside her daughter.

“No amount of money can make someone love correctly.”

Ethan turned away, fighting tears.

Claire covered her mouth.

Even some guests who had remained silent looked ashamed.

Victoria did not apologize.

She said leadership required choosing the strongest heir.

Lily looked toward Daniel.

“Then why did you have to cheat to make him strong?”

Mr. Bennett placed the corporate ledger on the table.

The hidden losses were worse than Ethan feared.

Daniel’s investment division had moved seventy million dollars from employee retirement reserves into failing luxury projects.

The paternity scheme was designed to secure enough votes to block an audit.

Then Martin found the final transfer.

The missing money had not gone to Daniel alone.

Half had been moved into a private holding company owned by Victoria.
