Chapter 1 - THE CAMERA THAT SAVED THE WAITRESS.
Victoria struck Leah, pointed at the brown handbag and shouted, “She stole my necklace!”
Leah touched her cheek but stayed standing.
“I never touched it.”
Ethan entered through the double doors and ordered the bag opened. A diamond necklace rested on black velvet inside. Guests gasped while Victoria smiled.
Leah looked toward the security monitor.
“Check the cameras. I served guests all night.”
The footage showed Victoria bending over the same bag while Leah stood several feet away.
Ethan stepped between them.
“You planted the necklace and attacked an innocent employee.”
Victoria insisted the recording was wrong.
Then Leah whispered, “There is another camera.”
The hallway footage showed Victoria receiving the necklace from Mr. Whitmore before entering the reception hall.
He had always treated Leah kindly.
Now his face turned gray.
Ethan looked at the older man.

“Why did you help frame a waitress?”
Mr. Whitmore answered, “Because she is not only a waitress. She is the legal heir to this house.”
