Chapter 7 - THE VIDEO THEY BUILT AROUND HIS FACE.

The video showed Daniel seated in the mansion office, signing forms while Margaret explained that Emily needed temporary stress treatment.

His eyes looked unfocused.

The timestamp matched a night he remembered only vaguely after taking medication for a migraine.

Margaret had not forged his signature.

She had arranged his cooperation.

Daniel watched himself sign away his wife’s medical freedom.

His voice broke.

“I did this.”

Emily refused to comfort him.

“You were used, but I was the one they planned to lock away.”

Margaret called the order necessary.

“Emily kept asking about Samuel’s files. She was becoming disruptive.”

Emily turned toward her.

“You steal from workers, drug your son, frame my father, and then call me dangerous because I can read.”

Richard contacted an independent attorney and the state medical board.

Vanessa tried to leave.

The front doors had already been locked by security.

Then the housekeeper, Rosa, entered carrying an old employee ledger.

She had worked for the Whitmores for thirty-four years.

Margaret snapped, “This is not your concern.”

Rosa placed the ledger beside the contaminated soup.

“My pension is in that pot too.”

The book showed every missing payment and false diagnosis.

But the final page contained a handwritten note from Samuel.

“Rosa saw who caused the kitchen accident.”

Emily looked at her.

Rosa whispered, “The mouse was not in the hood.”
