DNA testing confirmed Daniel was the son of Thomas Reed, the union attorney who organized the employee rescue plan.
Eleanor admitted she and Thomas had been together before her assignment began.
She believed Thomas died after a suspicious warehouse fire.
Charles knew Daniel was not his biological child but raised him as a Mercer because controlling Eleanor’s son gave the family leverage over the worker claim.
Daniel confronted Charles.
“You never loved me. You treated me like collateral.”
Charles answered, “I gave you education, status and the Mercer name.”
Daniel’s voice became merciless.
“You gave me luxury purchased from people whose children could not afford medicine. Stop calling stolen comfort love.”
Thomas’s records showed he survived the warehouse fire and entered witness protection.
He had spent decades building a federal case against the Mercers.
The government refused to reveal his location because someone inside the employee council was leaking information to Victor.
Suspicion fell on Rosa.
She had controlled access to the original charter for years.
Rosa admitted meeting Thomas secretly, but denied betraying workers.
The council suspended her authority.
Victor offered to reveal the real informant in exchange for immunity.
Prosecutors refused.
He laughed.

That night, every hotel payroll account was emptied.
Employees received messages saying their wages had been used to pay Mercer legal debts.
The transfer authorization came from Daniel’s new employee-trust account.
