Amara’s legal career, family history and genetic compatibility made her useful.
Daniel insisted he had not known at first.
“At first?” Amara asked.
He confessed Evelyn told him before the proposal that marrying Amara could secure disputed shares. He claimed he later fell in love.
“You converted love into a defense after using it as access.”
Daniel offered to surrender his inheritance.
Rebecca refused the performance.
“You cannot donate what your daughters already control.”
The employee council placed Pierce Medical under temporary public oversight. Daniel, Evelyn and the hospital firm faced fraud and discrimination investigations.
Lila, one of the nurses, then revealed that another patient had delivered twins under a similar Pierce agreement the previous year.
The mother had been declared unstable and lost access to them.
Her file was sealed under Evelyn’s authority.
Amara ordered the record preserved.
