Chapter 8 - THE VOICE FROM ALEXANDER’S OFFICE.

Forensic analysts confirmed the voice was genuine but incomplete.
Years earlier, Alexander had told counsel, “Keep Claire away from Emma’s trust documents until the estate vote is secured.” Victoria cut out the middle words and used the fragment to convince Claire he wanted separation.
Claire listened twice.
“I believed you chose the estate over us.”
Alexander looked devastated.
“I still chose business often enough that the lie sounded possible.”
The distinction mattered, but it did not restore eight years.
Investigators charged Victoria, Dr. Reed and participating attorneys with unlawful confinement, fraud and record manipulation. The workers’ council suspended every Hawthorne family vote, including Emma’s automatic control.
Claire supported the decision.
“My daughter should not rule because adults hid property in her name.”
Then the council examined the hospital bracelet attached to the backpack.
It did not belong to Emma.

The birth date was eight years earlier, but the patient name was another child’s.
A girl named Lily Bennett had been born beside Emma—and removed before Claire woke.
