Chapter 9 - The Room His Signature Built

Michael admitted approving the clinic renovation.
The documents described a records archive — not a detention room.
Cross had rushed the approval while Michael’s company was near bankruptcy.
“I didn’t ask enough questions because I needed to keep workers employed,” Michael said.
Rachel replied:
“You kept them employed by helping build my prison.”
Michael did not argue.
He redirected profits into the victim fund and stepped away from custody proceedings.
Vanessa mocked him:
“Good intentions don’t save anyone.”
Michael replied:
“No. Accountability does.”
Rachel regained her legal identity.
The worker trust recovered millions.
Then architects revealed the original design:
the hidden room had been requested by Rachel herself.
She stared at the document.
