Chapter 4 - THE SIGNATURE DANIEL FAILED TO READ.

Daniel admitted the signature was his.

Margaret had placed the complaint withdrawal beneath Lily’s enrollment forms while he was grieving and working nights. He had signed without reading every page.

“I had no lawyer and no sleep,” he said. “But my signature still hurt families. Investigate it.”

Vanessa seized on the admission.

“Then stop pretending you are better than us.”

Noah answered before Daniel could.

“He made one careless choice. You built a business that needs scared children.”

The detectives found camera footage showing Vanessa rehearsing Lily before supervised visits. She told the child that crying would make judges believe Daniel was dangerous.

Margaret defended it as emotional preparation.

Lily buried her face against Daniel’s shoulder.

“She said poor dads lose because they cannot afford experts.”

A child advocate suspended every Bennett Center placement and moved Noah to safe temporary care while his mother was located.
