Robert admitted he had known the basement room was being used.
He claimed he brought Noah food because confronting Margaret and Vanessa would have cost him access to both children.
Daniel’s voice turned cold.
“You chose secret kindness because public courage threatened your comfort.”
Robert accepted removal from the house and surrendered his phone.
Its messages revealed that Rosa had been placed in a private rehabilitation facility under another name. The facility was owned by Vanessa’s father, a real-estate developer who purchased properties from families labeled unfit.
Vanessa called the arrangement legal respite care.
Noah looked at her through the open doorway.
“You locked my mom away because she wanted our apartment back.”
Police located Rosa alive, conscious and able to speak. She had been told Noah entered a permanent adoptive home and no longer wanted contact.
When they connected her by video, Noah pressed both hands to the screen.
Rosa’s first question was for Lily.
“Did they find the recording your mother hid inside the bracelet?”
