Chapter 6 - THE GIRL THEY PLANNED TO FRAME AGAIN.
Victoria said the camera footage proved Emily entered the mansion to steal records and manipulate Evelyn.
Dr. Pike supported her immediately.
“She is emotionally fixated on correcting her mother’s reputation. That can become delusional.”
Emily looked from him to Victoria.
“You stole from my mother, destroyed her name, and now my grief is your diagnosis?”
Richard removed the camera’s storage card.
The footage began hours earlier.
It showed Victoria instructing Pike to sedate Evelyn, dress Margaret in her nightgown, and prepare Emily’s false medical file.
Pike stepped backward.
Victoria’s voice sharpened.
“That recording is private family property.”
Richard answered, “Crime does not become private because the carpet is expensive.”
The video also showed Charles entering the hidden room with a black folder.
He told Victoria the apartment sale had to close before Evelyn’s birthday.
If she remained competent one more day, she would regain full control of the trust.
Charles was now downstairs hosting the family celebration.
Guests were drinking champagne while tenants’ homes were being sold above their heads.
Emily asked Richard why he had never questioned the development plan.
He admitted he signed preliminary approvals.
“I believed the summaries.”
Evelyn looked at him.
“You believed them because the consequences belonged to poorer people.”
Then the black folder on the table began ringing.
