The photograph placed Charles inside the Ashford accounting office hours before Emily’s mother, Sofia Reyes, was accused of embezzlement.
Charles claimed he went there to confront her.
Margaret revealed the truth.
Sofia had discovered millions moved from employee pensions into Ashford luxury developments.
Charles offered her money to sign a false audit.
She refused.
The next morning, her access card opened the vault where funds were reported missing.
Her fingerprint appeared on documents she had never seen.
Sofia lost her job, healthcare, and reputation in one day.
She died two years later after delaying treatment she could no longer afford.
Victoria dismissed the tragedy.
“Many people lose jobs. Responsible adults recover.”
Emily’s voice became cold.
“My mother did recover. Every morning. Every night. Every time she looked at me and pretended she wasn’t scared. You destroyed her life and blamed her for bleeding quietly.”
Richard ordered the Ashford servers frozen.
Charles warned that exposing the fraud would collapse the company and cost employees their jobs.
Evelyn answered, “You stole their pensions, then used their paychecks as body armor.”
The board’s emergency line rang.
An independent auditor had found Sofia’s original report.
It named one final participant.
Richard Ashford.
His digital approval appeared on every transfer.
