Chapter 9 - THE WOMAN WEARING MARGARET’S NAME.

The academy’s security image showed a silver-haired woman who resembled Margaret closely.

Mr. Harris identified her as Evelyn Cole, Margaret’s older sister.

The family claimed Evelyn died thirty years earlier after exposing financial fraud.

In reality, she had been hidden inside a private residence and later used as a silent legal proxy.

Margaret’s identity opened doors.

Evelyn’s existence provided signatures no one could trace publicly.

Ethan admitted he knew she was alive.

Celeste did too.

They used Evelyn to approve guardianships, property transfers, and medical orders whenever Margaret might refuse.

Margaret’s privilege had hidden the scheme even from her.

No clerk questioned a wealthy family seal.

No judge requested the woman’s face.

Meanwhile, poor mothers were forced to prove every address, paycheck, and tear.

Victor ordered a statewide alert for Olivia.

Ethan offered information in exchange for immunity.

Lena’s voice cut through the lobby.

“You raised a cane over me, planned to steal Mia, and helped hide my first daughter. You don’t get to sell back pieces of the truth.”

Victor agreed.

“No deal.”

Federal agents arrested Ethan, Celeste, and the family attorney.

Margaret surrendered her foundation authority.

Then Mr. Harris received a message from Olivia’s phone.

It contained one photograph.

Olivia stood safely beside Evelyn inside an abandoned Cole hotel.

Behind them was a wall covered with children’s names.

Mia’s name had been added that morning.
