Price admitted helping the Whitmores monitor Alice but denied taking her.
He claimed Mayor Whitmore planned only to frighten Ethan into surrendering Sarah’s records.
“A powerful family wanted paperwork,” Price said. “I never agreed to harm a child.”
Ethan’s voice hardened.
“You helped people trap my daughter and now want credit for choosing the size of the cage.”
Price surrendered a second depot address in Baltimore.
State police found Alice there, conscious, fully clothed and unharmed, locked inside a comfortable office with food and water.
Ethan held her while she cried against his coat.
“I knew you would find the star,” she whispered.
Alice identified the man in the car as Mayor Whitmore’s son, Grant. Grant told her wealthy families had the right to protect charitable assets from people who could not manage money.
Alice had secretly recorded him.
Her phone contained Grant’s confession—and a video of Sheriff Price opening the depot gate.
Then Alice showed Ethan one final clip.
