Ethan remembered signing hospital forms after the collision. Mayor Whitmore told him they authorized specialist treatment.
One page had transferred Sarah into private guardianship and restricted family contact.
Ethan faced Alice and Sarah.
“I was deceived, but my signature still became the door they locked.”
Sarah did not excuse him.
“Working families are expected to understand every line while grieving. Wealthy attorneys design forms not to be understood.”
Ethan submitted himself to independent review and surrendered control of Sarah’s trust.
Mayor Whitmore called the scandal an attack on local philanthropy.
Maria answered at the public hearing.
“You took workers’ wages, bought buildings with them, then called returning crumbs charity.”
Grant Whitmore, Sheriff Price and the residence director were charged with kidnapping conspiracy, fraud and obstruction.
Auditors then discovered Sarah’s missing funds had purchased several downtown properties.
One was Maria’s bakery.
Its lease allowed the Whitmore Foundation to evict her without notice.
