Claire learned that her mother had not abandoned the family as Robert always claimed, but had challenged the hospital after a defective Carlisle inhaler nearly killed Claire during childhood and was later declared unstable by the same physician network used against Sophie.
Robert admitted allowing the custody order because the Carlisles promised to fund Claire’s treatment and protect his hospital career, while Claire’s mother, Laura, was sent to a private facility and erased from every family story.

Months later, Claire transformed the bright family kitchen into the first meeting place for families harmed by defective medical devices, keeping Sophie’s blue inhaler in a low unlocked drawer that the child could always reach without permission.
