It showed the workers owned fifty-one percent of Ashford Hospitality, including the mansion, two hotels and the land beneath a private hospital.
Elaine had been elected trustee.
Vivian stared at Nora’s gray uniform.
“A housekeeper cannot control a corporation.”
Nora replied, “She controlled the kitchens, schedules and emergencies while you controlled the photographs.”
The page also showed Vivian withdrew millions from the worker trust for renovations, jewelry and political donations. Charles had countersigned every transfer.
He claimed he believed the funds came from a family reserve.
An elderly cook named Mrs. Doyle entered with retired staff behind her.
“Poor workers notice every missing dollar. Rich husbands call eight figures a misunderstanding.”
The employees demanded an independent audit.
