Chapter 2 - The Message From Olivia’s Phone
Eleanor denied signaling Grant and claimed Olivia had simply lost her balance. Olivia held up the transfer agreement. “You prepared my incapacity before I hit the floor.” Eleanor replied, “Your father was a vineyard mechanic. His daughter was never equipped to control a national company.” Maya cut in. “Working people are called unqualified until the machines stop and the harvest fails.” Records showed Olivia’s father, Thomas Reed, organized laborers during bankruptcy. Workers surrendered wages for forty-nine percent ownership. The family erased the agreement and renamed their money an emergency loan. Grant called them opportunists. Olivia answered, “They skipped medicine so your cellar could stay full.” Security found a second phone containing Eleanor’s messages. The final text read: “If she survives, use the medical clause.” But the reply beneath it came from Olivia’s number: “Understood.”
