Maya admitted Eleanor’s lawyers once pressured clinic staff to pre-sign blank emergency forms. She left after learning sedatives were used to discredit women tied to employee trusts. “I should have reported it,” she said. Olivia did not comfort her. “Silence protected your career while other women lost theirs.” The files revealed a pattern: daughters of mechanics, housekeepers and field workers were courted by wealthy heirs, married into old-money families and declared unstable when their claims matured. Grant’s first wife, Emily, had supposedly died after a fall at another vineyard. Eleanor called it coincidence. Rosa produced a photograph of Emily alive inside a private rehabilitation center. Grant’s confidence collapsed. “She needed treatment.” Olivia replied, “You locked away one wife and tried to injure the next.” Agents rescued Emily. She identified the person who approved her confinement: Olivia’s father, Thomas—officially dead for twelve years.
