Chapter 3 - THE SIGNATURE NOAH NEVER GAVE.
Noah stared at the filing carrying his verified signature.
“I never submitted this.”
Vincent smiled.
“You signed a stack of foundation documents last week. Perhaps you should read before pretending to defend servants.”
Lila examined the notary seal. It belonged to Judge Malcolm Reeves, a guest standing beside the champagne table.
Reeves tried to leave.
Ruth blocked his path.
“For once, a working woman is standing between a judge and the door.”
The filing transferred every employee share to Noah, then transferred Noah’s interest to Vincent if Noah married Lila.
The family had planned to portray her as a social climber while using the marriage to absorb the worker trust.
Noah looked at Lila.
“They wanted me to believe you were after my name.”
“They needed you angry enough to sign without asking whose property you were taking.”
Reeves admitted Vincent paid him through the family charity.
Then Lila opened the attachment hidden behind the filing.
It contained a death certificate for Ruth.
