Chapter 6 - THE VOICE INSIDE SOPHIE’S LOCKET.

The locket contained a recorder activated when both matching pieces were close.
Claire’s voice filled the foyer.
“Adrian, if Sophie brings Elena to the cellar, trust neither the family cameras nor the security chain. Someone inside the house is forcing the truth into daylight.”
Margaret accused Claire of manipulating a child.
“I gave Sophie a memory, not a mission,” Claire replied. “Elena chose when to return.”
Thomas admitted receiving the cellar order from head of security Malcolm Price, who had disappeared that morning.
Federal agents traced Malcolm to an Ashford hotel owned through the employee pension fund. The hotel called itself a family legacy while housekeepers worked unpaid overtime and faced eviction from staff housing.
Rosa stared at Adrian.
“Your family called us loyal while billing our loyalty back to us as rent.”
Adrian transferred temporary governance to an elected worker council, not to himself, Claire or Elena.
Investigators then opened Malcolm’s office.
Inside was a photograph of Claire walking freely outside the clinic two weeks earlier.
Adrian asked, “You escaped before today?”

Claire looked away.
“I returned to the estate before Elena did.”
