Chapter 9 - THE ROOM OF THE MISSING.

Claire and Elena admitted creating a covert evidence fund after Claire discovered the trust theft.
Elena used the money to support displaced employees and locate sealed court files. She concealed the work from Rosa and other beneficiaries because she believed a smaller circle was safer.
Rosa’s disappointment was sharp.

Claire and Elena surrendered the remaining funds and agreed to testify without special status.
The audit restored pensions, halted evictions and removed the Ashfords from control of the mansion and hotels. Adrian kept no inherited vote; he could earn a role only through an ordinary election.
Margaret called the decision humiliation.
Rosa answered, “Humiliation was serving dinner in a house our wages saved while being told to use the back stairs.”
Then workers opened the maintenance-cellar wall.
Behind it was a second room containing identification cards, medical files and recordings from employees declared missing over thirty years.
One file belonged to Adrian’s father.
