Blackwood Academy was built for two Americas. One entered through marble gates. The other through service corridors.
Emily arrived first. Sophie’s belongings were already in trash bags.
“No record of custody,” the headmistress said. “Only instructions.”
Victoria arrived moments later, greeted as “Miss Whitmore.”
Emily was told to wait outside.
Ethan refused.
“You took money from my family without asking questions. Now you will answer them.”
A cafeteria worker revealed a note.
Sophie had written:
“I think I’m being taken because my real mother found me.”
