Hannah’s recording revealed Ethan had learned about Rosa’s deed before meeting Claire.
Margaret ordered him to approach Rosa’s daughter, believing marriage would return the mansion to Mercer control. Ethan initially agreed to one introduction, then ended the arrangement after falling in love with Claire.
He had never told her how their first meeting was engineered.
Claire listened without speaking.
Ethan did not defend the love that followed.
“A real feeling does not erase a dishonest beginning.”
The court voided every coerced transfer and restored pensions, housing and medical funds. Margaret and Richard lost authority and faced trial. Ethan surrendered profits linked to the scheme and could earn trust only through conduct, not promises.
Claire remained in control of her future and allowed contact on boundaries she chose.
At the cooperative’s opening, workers removed the basin from the foyer.
Beneath it was a sealed map marking four other Mercer estates.
