Chapter 6 - THE PLANNER WHO SOLD THE BRIDE’S NAME.

Claire Morgan had promised Isabella she understood how uncomfortable old-money weddings could feel.
She corrected Diane’s insults in private, defended the vineyard menu, and assured Isabella that staff entrances were “just estate logistics.”
All of it had been strategy.
Claire had been hired by Julian six months before the engagement.
Her job was to gain Isabella’s trust, collect her signatures, and make every insult seem accidental until the legal transfers were complete.
Diane defended her.
“Claire is a professional. She understands that marriage is also a business transaction.”
Isabella looked at her.
“No. She understood that women like me are expected to feel grateful while you inventory what we own.”
Cameron called Claire.
She answered from the estate parking lot.
When confronted, she claimed Julian threatened to expose her mother’s immigration history and destroy her event business.
Sofia’s expression hardened.
“You used my uniform because you thought the police would believe a Latina server forged the document before they believed a white planner.”
Claire began crying.
“I was terrified.”
Isabella did not soften.
“Fear explains why you obeyed. It does not explain why you smiled while they humiliated my parents.”
Claire agreed to return with the original files.
Before she reached the suite, a car left the estate through the service gate.
Julian was driving.

Claire sat beside him.
In the back seat was Isabella’s father, unconscious but breathing.
