The barrel cellar had been sealed for renovation, but Sofia remembered a service tunnel beneath the tasting room.
She had worked Whitmore events for nine years and knew every hallway guests never saw.
Diane tried to stop her.
“Employees are not authorized below the private collection.”
Sofia turned toward her.
“Your family keeps calling us unauthorized inside buildings we maintain, clean, and save.”
The police followed her underground.
They found Mateo conscious inside a storage office, his phone taken but no serious injuries. Claire was nearby, terrified and locked in a separate room.
Julian had left minutes earlier through a vineyard exit.
Mateo revealed that Julian wanted him to sign the easement voluntarily after the forged version raised legal concerns.
When he refused, Julian threatened to destroy Isabella’s reputation before dawn.
Claire surrendered a portable drive containing the full plan.
It showed Diane approved the public humiliation strategy.
Robert approved aggressive land negotiations but claimed he never authorized coercion.
Cameron approved the resort financing.
Every Whitmore had signed a different part and told themselves they were not responsible for the whole.
Then Mateo played a voice message Julian left behind.
“If Isabella refuses the easement, release the honeymoon footage.”
Isabella went still.
There had been no honeymoon.
The file had been created before the wedding.
