THE CAMERA BELIEVED LILY. / Chapter 1 / 10

Chapter 1 - THE CHILD BENEATH THE CHANDELIERS.

Emma rushed into the wedding ballroom and found seven-year-old Lily trembling beside a banquet table.

“Lily, what happened?”

The girl clung to her teal gown and whispered, “He said no one would believe me.”

Richard approached with the cold expression he used whenever money had already silenced the room.

“She’s lying. Move.”

When he reached for Lily, Emma blocked his arm.

“Don’t touch her again.”

Richard stepped closer, forcing Emma to shove his shoulder away. He crashed into a table, sending a wineglass onto the marble. Red wine spread across the white floor as guests gasped.

Emma immediately turned back to Lily.

“You’re safe. I believe you.”

Richard looked up, prepared to accuse her of attacking him. Then he noticed the dome camera above the chandelier, its red light still burning.

Emma followed his stare.

“And so does the camera.”

Richard’s face lost color.

But the hotel manager suddenly announced, “That camera hasn’t recorded anything in three months.”

Lily shook her head.

“He’s lying too.”
