Chapter 2 - THE MANAGER WHO CHOSE THE FAMILY NAME.
The hotel manager, Marcus Bell, insisted the camera system had failed during renovations.
Richard rose from the floor and recovered his arrogance.
“You see? Emma created another public scene because she cannot accept that this family moved on.”
Emma’s marriage to Richard had ended after she discovered missing money in Lily’s education trust. His family called her suspicious, emotional, and ungrateful for questioning accounts she had never been permitted to control.
Marcus ordered security to remove her.
Lily stepped in front of her mother.
“Dad took me into the hallway. He told me to say Mom scares me.”
Richard’s voice turned sharp.
“She is confused. Emma raised her in a rented apartment surrounded by people who resent success.”
Emma stared at him.
“You mean teachers, nurses, and workers who cannot buy silence?”
A young server quietly approached the camera console. She revealed the ballroom system had a second archive installed by employees after years of missing service fees.
The recording existed.
Marcus had only disabled the family’s screen.

Richard appeared onscreen, holding a legal document beside Lily’s face.
