Chapter 6 - THE FATHER WHO CALLED CRUELTY LEADERSHIP.

Arthur ordered Caroline back to the bridal suite.
“This family will not collapse because a frightened child misunderstood discipline.”
Lily pressed closer to Emma.
Richard’s confidence returned.
Arthur looked at his granddaughter without warmth.
“Your father was teaching you that accusations have consequences.”
Emma stepped between them.
“She is seven. The only lesson she learned was that wealthy adults expect children to protect their lies.”
Arthur called Thomas Reed a contractor who had exploited a temporary financial crisis to obtain shares he never deserved.
Rosa answered from the employees’ table.
“He accepted ownership because your father could not pay the men building this hotel.”
Arthur’s jaw tightened.
“Labor does not create legacy.”
Emma replied, “Then remove every brick workers touched and see what remains of your name.”
Caroline refused to leave. She revealed Arthur had threatened her fiancé because his company employed former Hale workers suing for stolen wages.
Then she unfolded the original deed.
Arthur’s copy was different from the archive version.
One page had been replaced.
The genuine page granted Thomas Reed’s crew forty percent of the hotel—not five percent.
Arthur had been managing property largely owned by the employees.
