Chapter 1 - THE FOOTAGE DELETED BEFORE MIDNIGHT.
Daniel Mercer stood beneath the cold hospital lights while Dr. Harris pointed to Lily’s scans.
“Her jaw is fractured in six places.”
Daniel’s breath stopped.
“Who did this to my daughter?”
Lily lay conscious and medically stable, one hand trembling around his fingers. Her blue hoodie rested inside a sealed evidence bag.
Campus security claimed she had been found unconscious near the science building. No witnesses had come forward.
Daniel studied a photograph attached to the report.
“That camera faces the exact walkway.”
Dr. Harris lowered his voice.
“Then ask why the university has not released the recording.”
Across campus, an employee deleted a clip showing Lily walking safely as an adult figure approached from behind.
The employee removed a USB drive and locked the office.
Daniel looked at Lily.
“They are not hiding what happened. They are hiding who did it.”
