William Mercer was detained in the same military jacket.
He had worked privately for Whitman after faking his death to avoid prosecution for unauthorized human-performance studies.
Lily had discovered his name in the basement files.
William admitted confronting her but claimed she fell while escaping.
The full footage showed otherwise: he grabbed the folder, Lily pulled away, and an unmarked security door struck her when Michael remotely locked it.
Michael broke down.
“I thought I was sealing the building, not trapping her.”
Daniel replied, “Intent matters. So does the person who paid for it.”
Vale, Whitman, William, Helen and Michael faced separate investigations. No family connection erased responsibility.
The basement became a student-controlled research center. Credits, wages and patents were restored.
Lily’s blue hoodie and the deleted USB were displayed beneath glass.
A plaque read:
“THEY CALLED HER UNSTABLE BECAUSE THE TRUTH THREATENED STABLE FORTUNES.”
At the reopening, the monitor activated.
A new clip showed Lily entering the basement weeks earlier with Dr. Harris.
