Chapter 9 - THE SENATOR WHO CALLED POVERTY A CONTRACT.
Senator Whitman said he came to support Lily and defend the university from false accusations.
Daniel blocked the doorway.
“You funded a system that threatened students with homelessness.”
Whitman replied that competitive programs required discipline and sacrifice.
Tessa answered, “The rich students received patents. We received discipline.”
Federal agents searched Whitman’s vehicle and found the missing USB drive from campus security.
Michael admitted giving it to one of Whitman’s aides after being promised protection for university employees.
The drive contained the complete footage.
Whitman approached Lily near the science building, demanded her folder and ordered campus security to remove her.
He did not strike her.
Before the injury occurred, another person entered from outside the frame.
Only a reflection appeared in the glass doors.
Daniel saw a military rain jacket identical to his own.
The figure moved with his posture and carried his old unit insignia.
Michael stared at the screen.
“That cannot be you.”
