Maya admitted staging Piper’s disappearance after months of failed complaints.
She believed a valuable microchipped cat would force Vivian to reveal the removal network. Maya monitored Piper through the building cameras and expected to intervene within minutes.
Instead, Nina found the cat first and became Vivian’s target.
“I treated risk like a spreadsheet because I knew I could rescue Piper,” Maya said. “I did not calculate what Vivian could do to Nina.”
Nina’s answer was quiet.
“You calculated it. You just assumed the poor woman would survive the experiment.”
Maya accepted removal from the board until tenants decided whether she could return.
Vivian seized on the admission, but Reed separated the crimes. Maya’s manipulation did not erase theft, fraud or unlawful eviction.
Then Grant opened Diane Carter’s sealed trust.
It did not give Maya permanent control.
