Chapter 3 - THE WOMAN ERASED UNDER ANOTHER NAME.

Vanessa stared at the false patient name.

She had never been treated in Richmond.

Eleanor realized what Grant had done. By placing Anna under Vanessa’s identity, he could call any future appearance by Anna a fraud and any accusation by Vanessa the confusion of a former patient.

Grant said the arrangement protected Lily from public scandal.

Vanessa replied, “You erased one woman with another woman’s name and called the child protected.”

Federal counsel contacted the clinic. Anna was alive, conscious and held under a financial guardianship signed by an Ashford family judge.

The clinic director claimed Anna had entered voluntarily after a breakdown.

Lily looked up at him.

“My mommy wrote me every birthday.”

The director denied it.

A housekeeper brought in a box of unopened envelopes found in Grant’s office. Every letter carried Lily’s name.

One included a drawing of the ballroom and a red circle around Grant.
