Marcus refused the shares.
“I will not keep property taken through my daughters’ fingerprints.”
Hannah’s company owned thirty rent-controlled apartment buildings across Chicago. Celeste planned to sell them to a luxury developer after gaining control of the twins’ trust.
Tenants already faced surprise inspections, broken heat and pressure to leave.
Mrs. Alvarez, an elderly tenant, showed photographs of mold spreading through her grandson’s bedroom.
“Your family called our homes investments. We called them where our children slept.”
Marcus froze the sale and transferred temporary authority to a tenant-worker council. He also disclosed that his company had financed the developer.
Celeste accused him of destroying his fortune for strangers.
Lily answered, “They are not strangers because they don’t eat in our kitchen.”
Then investigators recovered footage from the morning Hannah vanished.
Marcus was visible handing Celeste a sealed envelope.
