Records from a fertility clinic showed embryos created using genetic material taken during a deployment health screening.
Evelyn called it family planning.
“You stole from my body and wrote it as inheritance strategy,” Kelsey said.
Charles claimed broad consent forms made the procedure legal.
The Army investigator answered, “Consent for testing is not consent for reproduction.”
One embryo had been transferred to a surrogate four years earlier.
The child was alive under another name with a family tied to the Morgan foundation.
Ryan swore he learned only after the birth.
“I wanted to tell you.”
“But you wanted your inheritance more.”
The surrogate, Elena Brooks, was a former cafeteria worker who accepted the procedure to pay her mother’s medical debt. She believed the embryo belonged to an anonymous military couple.
When she asked questions, the foundation threatened to take the child and accuse her of fraud.
Kelsey refused to blame Elena.
“Poverty was the weapon they used against both of us.”
