Chapter 2 - THE WIFE BURIED UNDER ANOTHER NAME.
Frank stared at the photograph.
“My wife never used that name.”
Director Collins claimed the facility admitted an unidentified woman after a highway accident fifteen years earlier. Margaret’s death certificate, however, had been issued three days after the crash.
Ethan kept the livestream pointed toward the adults.
“Why was Grandpa told she died if she was here?”
David said his mother’s identity was irrelevant to the contract.
Frank looked at him.
“You want my house before asking why your mother was hidden?”
Nurse Mary opened the alias file. Margaret had remained conscious, requested her family repeatedly and been called delusional whenever she used her real name.
The bills were paid by the Carter Family Foundation—David’s company.
Laura covered her mouth.
“You told me your mother abandoned everyone.”
David’s face hardened.
“She was unstable. Dad could not manage her.”
Frank answered, “I searched every hospital in Pennsylvania.”
Mary turned the final page. The original admission authorization had been signed by David when he was seventeen.
